  1. Take a tin plate and spread out about 50 green coffee beans. Then holding the plate above the fire while shaking the plate slowly brown the green coffee beans while being careful not to burn them.
  2. Place the freshly roasted coffee beans in your tin cup. Use the socket end of your bayonet to smash up the beans in the bottom of the cup. Make sure that you to stick yourself or anyone else with the pointed end of the bayonet.
  3. Pour the chopped up coffee beans back on to your plate and set a side
  4. Take your tin cup and fill it about ¾ of the way with water and place on the fire to boil.
  5. Once the water is boiling place the coffee grinds in to the cup DO NOT STIR. Let the cup sit for 5 minuets. Place the cup near the fire so it will keep warm but not to boil.
  6. Pull the cup away from the fire. Most of the coffee grinds should be floating on top. Take some cold water from your canteen and sprinkle it on the floating coffee grinds. The cold water should shock the grinds and cause them to slowly sink to the bottom of the cup.

ALTERNET METHOD WITHOUT MAKING A MESS

In step 5 place your coffee grinds in to a “clean white muslin Ration bag” and tie shut. Place the ration bag in to the boiling water. This method takes longer to brew. When the coffee is done to your likening pull the ration bag out of your coffee and enjoy. Discard the used coffee grounds and rinse out your bag for the next cup off coffee
